Commercial Databases

These databases can be directly accessed from any UB libraries computer (e.g. Cybrary).  Off-campus, UB students can access by entering their UBIT username and password.

  • LEXIS-NEXIS ACADEMIC
    An excellent source for primary law - cases, statutes, etc.
  • LEGALTRAC
    Index to law review articles since 1981
  • INDEX TO LEGAL PERIODICALS RETROSPECTIVE
    Index to law review articles 1918 to 1981
  • HEIN-ON-LINE
    Full text PDF source for full run of most law reviews. Select "Law Journal Library." Also a source for a wide variety of law sources.
  • PROQUEST CONGRESSIONAL
    Source for U.S. legislative documents, such as committee reports and hearings, including historical items
  • E-JOURNALS
    A way to learn whether UB has an online subscription to particular journals and other serial publications.

  • UB LAW LIBRARY BIBLIOGRAPHIES
    Bibliographies of "best" sources - treatises, study guides, etc. - in many subject areas (e.g. Criminal Law, Contracts)
  • BISON
    UB's online catalogue to all publications, print and online. You can limit your search to law library holdings.
  • WORLDCAT
    Combined catalogue of 100s of academic libraries. Useful for getting bibliographic information on items not owned by UB, and as a precurser to inter-library loan (ILLIAD)
